Hey, let’s give some props to T-Mobile. They just announced that they are substantially reducing roaming fees to foreign countries. Well, actually, it is more than that. The New York Times reports that T-Mobile is eliminating roaming fees to some 100 countries for those customers who sign up to a plan called Simple Choice that charges $.20 per minute for voice and free data and text messaging. For foreign travelers, this is a very enticing proposition that puts a serious dent in the premium charges imposed upon Americans who use their cellphones abroad. The unlimited data aspect of the plan is particularly impressive. You can find more details about the plan here.
More details will be forthcoming, but if you are planning on spending time overseas, this is a proposition that is worth exploring. Thanks T-Mobile. Glad that AT&T didn’t buy ya!
