Folks it is now time to switch to LED lightbulbs. Not tomorrow — today. I’ve been buying them for the last two years and the majority of the lightbulbs in my house are LEDs. They are great — better light quality than CFLs and far more elegant than incandescent bulbs. But if you don’t believe me, consider the excellent analysis done by David Pogue of the New York Times.
Pogue’s conclusions mirror my own. These bulbs are now under $10 each. They last probably as long as you’ll live in your house. They use 1/10th the power sucked up by incandescent bulbs. And here’s my favorite part — they will pay for themselves in a matter of months (in some cases) and save you hundreds of dollars over the life of this modest investment. What’s not to love?
